Morning Star FC wins 2015 Assam State Premier League


K.A Morning Star FC has won 2015 Assam State Premier League by defeating FC Green Valley 2-1 in the final played at KSSA Stadium, Diphu. 

FC Green Valley were the first one to draw blood when their striker George Prince opened the account for his team in the 53rd minute. Immanual L Intoate of Morning Star scored in the 67th minute to level the scores. Orok Essein, the Nigerian player of Morning Star FC scored the decisive goal with only seven minutes to go on the clock. 

With this win K.A. Morning Star FC have become the first Champion of Assam State Premier League after it was revamped this year. They defeated Trinayanjyoti FC 4-1 on aggregate in the two legged Semi Finals to book their berth in the Final. Nigerian Player Orok Essein played a major role in making them Champion. He scored a total of 22 Goals in the league, which includes the decisive goal in the final that made his team champion.

Assam State Premier League (ASPL) is Assam's Top Division football league organised by Assam Football Association. The inaugural edition of the league started in 2008 with Assam Rifles winning the first season.
The League was revamped in 2015 and a new format was introduced. The teams have been divided into two zones, Upper Assam and Lower Assam,with six teams in each group. The League begins with group stage which is followed by quarter final stage. Top 4 teams from both the groups make it to the Quarter Final,which will be home and away basis. Winners of Quarter final will play in semi finals which again will be home and away basis. Final will be single legged and will be played between the winners of Semis.
