In a news that is bound to cheer the millions of Red and Gold fans across the world, the club has roped in former India and Mumbai FC mid fielder as the Head Coach for the upcoming season.
Khalid Jamil, who was the main architect of Aizawl FC's fairy tale season that saw them winning the top division after being relegated the year before, will be paid record amount of Rs. 1.25 Crore over two seasons, making him one of the highest paid Coach in Indian Club Football.
East Bengal have already poached several players from Aizawl FC, with likes of Chullova, Mahmoud Al Amna and Brandon Vanlalremika joining the Kolkata based club previously.
The Kuwaiti born Coach will have a huge responsibility on his shoulders as well as hopes of millions of fans who have been waiting for the elusive I-League trophy for the last thirteen years.
East Bengal FC are expected to start their pre-season in mid-July and will start their season with defending their Calcutta Football League title.
