This match was also the first competitive game of AFC under the new Spanish Coach, Manuel Retamero Fraile, who did not had a great start to his coaching career in Mizoram. His team lost a couple of friendlies against local sides and the loss in Super Cup only added to his misery. But the team regrouped well and adapted to the training methods of the Spaniard and the results is for everyone to see with AFC sitting at the top of the table after two rounds.
