I-League 2nd Division League: Neroca FC look to start with a win



Away from the razzmatazz of Indian Super League, India's 2nd tier League, the 2nd Division League, starts tomorrow, i.e., 14th November. The opening day have two encounters lined up in Eastern Conference. Neroca FC host Fateh Hyderabad AFC in Imphal in the first encounter where as the veteran club, Mohammedan SC take on debutant Guwahati FC in Kolkata. Except for Mohammedan SC, all the teams in Eastern Conference are making their debut in 2nd Division League.

MATCH 1: NEROCA FC v FATEH HYDERABAD AFC
TIMING: 01:00PM
VENUE: Khuman Lampak Stadium, Imphal

The Manipuri team, Neroca FC, who finished third in the recently concluded Manipur State League, are up against a young Fateh Hyderabad AFC in the league opener. Neroca FC, who were the table topper in MSL 2015, will start as favorite against the Hyderabadi side which has a very young squad with team's average age being 19 years.

Neroca FC is being managed by former Pune FC Assistant Coach, Gift Raikhan. He briefly managed the Pune side, when head coach,  Karim Bencherifa left the team at the fag end of previous season. Fateh Hyderabad on the other hand are managed by Yogesh Maurya, who also happens to be the owner of the club.

Neroca FC who finished at the top of the league table in MSL and remained unbeaten in league stage will be banking on foreign striker Emeka Christian, who was the lead goal scorer in MSL. Also, the team is quite settled as they have been playing competitive football and will be ready to take on the opposition. Ikechukwu Joseph and Amamba Jeremiah Elekwachi are the other two foreign recruits. Former Indian International, Tomba Singh, who played for Bharat FC last year, will be in charge of mid field for the Manipuri Side.

Fateh Hyderabad on the other hand are an unknown entity, with not much information on the team composition. The team comprises of Indian players selected from all over the country and is the youngest in the league with an average age of 19 years.

Speaking in the Pre-Match Press conference, Gift Raikhan said that Neroca FC has to win the first match against Fateh Hyderabad.

"Our Players will put in best effort to win the match and they are really fit and prepared for the showdown." said the coach.

The match will be played at Khuman Lampak Stadium, Imphal and kick off will be at 01:00 PM
