The 23 Year old, talented forward from Manipur has been signed by Kerala based club for the upcoming Indian Super League Season. Semboi, as he is popularly known as, played for Goan club, Salgaocar FC in 2015/16 I-League scoring 2 goals in 7 appearances.
On his signing for the Sachin Tendulkar owned team, he said, "I am excited to be a part of Kerala Blasters and hope to justify the faith put in me by the coach and the management. I am looking forward to meet and train with my new teammates and coach Steve Coppell,"
Haokip was discovered by Pune FC while he was playing for local side, United Sports Association and joined the Pune FC Academy in 2011. He was part of Pune FC U20 team that won back to back U20 I-League in 2012 and 2013. He was promoted to the Senior team before the start of 2013/14 season.
He was a prolific scorer for the Red Lizards and scored 17 goals spread over two seasons across all competitions. This included a 13-minute Hat-Trick against Shillong Lajong in 2014/15 I-League season. His on field exploitation earned him the Young Player of the Year Award for 2014/15 season by Football Player Association of India (FPAI).
He was drafted to play for FC Goa in 2015 Indian Super League and impressed everyone with his skills. He scored the 2nd hat-trick of his career in his 4th appearance for the Goa based franchisee against Mumbai City FC as his team won the match by 7-0.
On signing the striker Viren D'Silva, CEO, Kerala Blasters said, "We welcome the young, ever smiling Thongkhosiem Haokip into the Kerala Blasters family. We were impressed with his performances last season for FC Goa and hope he continues his form into this year. The coaching staff have earmarked him as one for the future."
