Bengaluru has been painted Red!!!

Champions of India, Bengaluru FC humbled on their own Home Ground as they suffered a 2-3 defeat against Aizawl FC, a club which was recently relegated from I-League they after finished 8th.

Joel Sunday opened the scoring for the Mizoram based Club in the 26th minute when he received the ball from Jayran and went past defender Nishu Kumar and took the shot and gave the lead to his team and also cancelling out Bengaluru FC's away goal advantage.

The Home team supporters didn't had to wait much longer as C.K. Vineeth restored parity 2 minutes later. Aizawl's Nigerian defender, Emmanuel Chigoze's poor clearance landed in front of C.K. Vineeth who lobbed the ball into the top right corner of the net.

Joel Sunday regained the lead for his side 10 minutes later when a communication gap between defenders John Johnson and Keegan Pereira allowed Alfred Jayran to pass the ball to Sunday who only had to dab the ball into the far corner of the net.

Match went into Half Time with Bengaluru needing 3 goals to progress to the next round of Federation Cup.

But the gods had other plans. Three minutes into the 2nd half Aizawl FC was awarded a free kick just out side the box after Curtis Osano brought down Alfred Jayran. Aizawl's captain, David Lalrinpuia rose to the occasion and converted from the set-piece with opposition goalie, Amrinder Singh reduced to a mere spectator. The chances of Bengaluru FC win were almost over after this goal.

Bengaluru FC were awarded a penalty in the 74th minute when Udanta Singh was brought down inside the box after Brandon mistimed his tackle. Sunil Chhetri took the ensuing penalty and scored off the spot to reduce the margin.

Aizawl FC held their fort in the final 10 minutes of the game to deny any further goals to the opposition and finished the match with a 3-2 scoreline in their favour.
