The 12th Edition of Manipur State League will resume from December 10. The decision was taken after a series of meeting between All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) and the participating clubs on 29th October and 28th November.
The League was suspended after Football Referee's Welfare Association refused to conduct any more matches after a referee was assaulted by supporters and officials of Sagolband United at the end of their match against NEROCA FC.
This led to AMFA calling meeting of all the participating clubs of the League and levied heavy fines on Sagolband United FC.
The Clubs in response joined together and launched their own forum to demand better functioning of League by AMFA. The Forum submitted a charter enlisting their demands which included better Referees, proper security arrangement during matches, monetary award for Man of the Match among others.
The Newly formed body and AMFA failed to reach a common ground which lead to suspension of league which had continued for a year.
In an effort to resolve the issues facing the clubs, AMFA and participating clubs held numerous meeting and some demands of the clubs were conceded by the State Association which included better security arrangement, Man of the Match from Knock Out Rounds and cash incentives for the teams.
The League will resume from December 10 and pick up from where it halted before the dispute.
Keinou Library Athletic Sporting Association (KLASA) were at the top of the table with 8 wins in 8 games followed by NEROCA FC with 19 points which included 6 wins in 8 games.
