DURAND CUP IS BACK



Asia's oldest football tournament, the Durand Cup, will be making a comeback after a hiatus of three years.

The 129th edition of the prestigious tournament will be held between 2nd August and 24th August in West Bengal. Kalyani, Siliguri and Kolkata will be hosting the matches. This will be the first time that this tournament is being hosted in West Bengal.

The venues for the tournament will be Kalyani Stadium, Mohun Bagan Ground, East Bengal Ground Mohammedan SC Ground, Salt Lake Stadium and Siliguri's Kanchenjunga Stadium.

The tournament will be comprise of 16 teams divided in four groups and played League cum Knock out format.

Six I-League clubs and six Indian Super League franchises have been invited to be part of this historic tournament. Four other teams will be fielded by Army (Army Green and Army Red), Navy and Air Force.

The last edition of Durand Cup was held in 2016 in Delhi with Army Green defeating NEROCA FC in the final to clinch the title.
